Happiness according to Dictionary.com, definition #2 is, "good fortune; pleasure; c
ontentment; joy". You can notice that there is word "contentment" included in the definition. Now what is this contentment? Contentment is the state of being satisfied or having a peace of mind and for me this is the real characteristic of happiness. I think we're going to have a problem here since humans have no satisfaction so the only solution to this problem is to be contented. Worldly affluence may give us satisfaction but this is not lasting, we still crave for another things that excite us giving us no peace in mind at all. Contentment keeps the balance to ourselves because this will give us another views to things or actions. Being contented enables us to realize that worldly things don't have the quality to cause true happiness but rather the attitude of contentment influences us.
True happiness cannot be achieved by having good fortune or a successful business, it can be attained by contentment of what you got. A simple contentment what God may give you is already showing that you are happy. True happiness cannot be found on worldly objects but it is in us how we see things that give us joy.
