The Beijing Mercantile Exchange (BEMEX) has launched a new fund raising drive in light of the earthquake and tsunami disaster that could be made even worse by the imminent Fukushima radiation spill.
“We are worried about predictions of a severe radiation spills and the possibility that people will need to evacuate their homes for longer periods of time, given the situation,” said Desheng Huang-fu, Board member of BEMEX.
The Japanese officials predicta big human loss in the aftermath of the earthquake.More than 1 million people in the affected regions are vulnerable and are already experiencing hardship as a result of the loss of homes.
Contributions to the fund raising drive will support our Japanese neighbors in the disaster area and provide the much needed supplies, like water and food.
While media attention has focused on the Fukushima radiation spill, BEMEX plans to add a significant positive change to the Sendai area.
As part of the new disaster response fund raising effort, the BEMEX is airing television ads, sending targeted fund raising appeals, using social media and making public appeals for disaster donations.
