About me:

I am a Peace Officer with fifteen years experience dealing with violent and high risk offenders and work as an Emergency Response Team member.

I became involved in the combat arts in 1972. My background is in Shotokan Karate, American Kenpo and Wing Chun. I am also a certified coach through the National Coaching Certification Program.

I am a partner at StreetSmart Safety & Security has developed Operational Security Plans and coordinated security for some of Calgary\'s largest educational institutions and for Calgary\'s most prestigious events. I’ve provided executive protection for entertainers and CEO’s. I am an experienced facilitator who has lectured on Personal Safety and Security at SAIT, Bow Valley College and Mount Royal College as well as for many corporate clients.

My focus as a Personal Safety & Self Defence instructor is to provide students with training that is realistic, effective, and proven in combat scenarios. My goal is to motivate students and provide them with the skills to succeed.

StreetSmart developed the (ASIST) Adrenal-Stress Induced Saturation Training model to work in conjunction with our unique Padded Attacker training program. Our courses allow students the opportunity to learn how to deal with potentially violent situations in a safe, controlled environment. Our Padded Attacker training allows them to use the skills they have learned full force against a determined attacker.

We prepare our students for the real world and teach them that 90% of Personal Safety & Security is knowledge, planning and preparation. We also teach them how to effectively defend themselves and their families without the need to spend years studying the martial arts.

Listening To Your Instincts

Have you ever had that little voice in the back of your head telling you that something isn't right? Have you had the hair on the back of your neck stand up when you've met someone and instantly disliked and not trusted them. These are your instincts and you should listen when they speak.
