No piece of writing is as critical to the High School student’s future as is his/her admissions essay. Within the limited space offered, the student is expected to define him/herself, his/her goals and the reasons why s/he should be allowed admission. Many prospective university applicants assume that only Ivy League Universities require a brilliant admissions essay. This is an erroneous assumption which could lead to a rejection letter.

There’s hardly any amongst us who has not experienced writer’s block during his/her academic career. Whether you’re a High School student or a post-gaduate one, putting your thoughts to words can often be a daunting task. You may know what you want to say but, nevertheless, find yourself staring at a blank screen unable to articulate your thoughts. To be quite frank, you are not at fault – the education system is. Teachers are underpaid, hardly appreciated and faced with a daunting workload. Even if they wanted to help you – give you the individual attention needed, they simply do not have the time. Conequently, when faced with a writing assignment, you, quite justifiably panic, and hardly know where to begin. It is neither your fault nor that of your tutor but, instead, speaks of the glaring inadequacies in the current education system.
