When Thelma started going to school at the age of 8, there was something wrong in her face. She had a big bulging eyes, her nose was flat, she had kinky hair and dark. She was a daughter of a poor native family living in the mountain. Many of her classmates don't like her. They were laughing and made fun of her. She became the center of attention in her class teasing and ridiculing her in the presence of their teacher. She cried telling her parents what happened in school. Her parents told her to just leave them because there are some people who don't have manners and easily belittle others without thinking that the victim is also human that have an emotion and can feel the pain.
Sometimes she asked herself why fate keep on teasing her. She did not understand why some people are acting differently. She tried to be friendly with the hope of changing their perception. She hold her emotion not to cry and devoted herself in his studies so that her mind is occupied without remembering those hurtful words that kept on bothering her. She forced herself to disregard this negative remarks she heard, holding her temper to burst.
Because of her perseverance and drive to obtain a higher education, she was selected by a certain foundation as the the recipient of a scholarship grant to complete her studies in high school up to college. It was a wonderful news to her. The foundation give her the opportunity because of her extraordinary talent in school. She was bright and has academic excellence topping the entire section of her class.
Another year had passed, she able to managed fully well. During those years in college, she received an outstanding recognition for being a best speaker in her class. She also had a good singing voice, the voice that many admired. She accepted all the challenges given to her. She handled it with pleasure. She continued dealing with her detractors in good terms that made her strong and more relax.
The bad perception toward her ebb away. Receiving her degree in medicine is the most wonderful gift that happened in her life. Many people offered their help to sponsor further her knowledge in medicine. She did not expect that there are still persons ready to give their help those who are in need. This were the kind of people who are different, who valued more in her potential and achievement rather than seeing her face. This were the kind of people who are open-minded, good and educated. They trusted her abilities more than anything else.When she was alone in her bedroom, she did not believed that she made it. Thinking the success in her career made her smile. If she felt discouraged in the early years of his schooling there should be no wonderful moment that will happen in her life. Her determination, sacrifice and courage made her complete. She never give up no matter the odds against her. That was the experience that made her strong woman with heart of steel.
Being ugly is not a total handicap. There is still a beauty in it. Her astonishing achievement in the field of medicine is the living testament that the most important thing in life is not what you see in the face but by what you see in her heart. That is the real beauty.

Your story is a happyending one. Shall we count the kids who fall and are very low self-esteemed? Their mumbers will be too much for our minds to bear. Many are not so strong and they are going down. It is our duty to help them. Our strength is their strength. And shiny days will come in their lives.
